How To Get Into The Naval Academy

The best way to truly experience the U.S. Naval Academy is to take one of our highly-regarded historical tours.  Led by professional, passionate, certified guides from the Naval Academy Business Services Division, these tours bring many of the U.S. Naval Academy's most important stories to life.

The Visitor Center is conveniently located inside USNA Gate 1 near the Annapolis harbor at 52 King George Street. Pedestrian entrances are on Prince George and Randall Streets.  The Visitor Center provides guided walking and driven tours for the public and a variety of guided walking tours for private groups.

All proceeds from the sale of tours and merchandise benefit the Brigade of Midshipmen activities.The Visitor Center is the first stop on a visit to the undergraduate college of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. Information specialists welcome visitors to view the 13-minute film, The Call to Serve.  The film plays daily, repeating every 15 minutes.  While visiting be sure to take a guided walking tour with one of our professional, certified guides.

For Access:
Anyone 18 years of age or older must present a valid, unexpired original REAL ID Act compliant U.S. government photo ID card (e.g. state issued driver's license or identification card); or an original, unexpired passport to enter USNA grounds. Visitors from states and territories that are not REAL ID Act compliant must present additional acceptable identification such as a SSN card, unexpired passport (book or card), birth certificate, voter registration card. Visitors who are NOT US citizens MUST present an original unexpired passport for entry.

Maryland Residents Frequent Tour Program : Present your Maryland driver's license for your first tour with us.  You will be given a MD Membership card.  Every time you return with one or more guests your tour will be free!

Exhibit at the Visitor Center :
Enter Halsey Field House on the way to the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center and you will experience an impressive, high-tech exhibit, that captures the mission of the Naval Academy, student life as a midshipman, and career paths as commissioned officers!

USNA Gift Shop : The USNA Gift Shop, inside the Visitor Center, provides visitors with an official United States Naval Academy shopping experience. The online Gift Shop can be found online at navyonline.com.

This exhibit area features several interactive screens, including a 20'x6′ touch-screen wall map to help visitors get an idea of the locations and sites to see on the Yard; kiosks with interactive videos featuring midshipmen and recent graduates who discuss admissions, academics, student life and career options; and a station dedicated to the career paths of outstanding graduates with an alumni directory. The exhibit features over 700 photographs and larger-than-life photography of the academy's most iconic moments.

U.S. Naval Academy Museum :

Located in Preble Hall on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy, the Museum offers two floors of exhibits about the history of seapower, the development of the U.S. Navy, and the role of the U.S. Naval Academy in producing officers capable of leading America's sailors and marines.

Our displays combine historical artifacts with video and audio technology to bring to life the stories of the men and women who have served their country at sea. Whether you are a casual visitor, a student of naval history, or a member of the Brigade of Midshipmen, the Museum stands ready to make your visit a memorable one.

Admissions Information :

United States Naval Academy Admissions briefings, lasting approximately one hour are held at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, on the second deck of the Visitor Center, excluding these holidays: 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.  For more information visit the Admissions website.Rogers Ship Model Collection
